Overview

The library acquires more than 27655 volumes of books in its collection with different formats, of course, there are some collections that are special in nature.

AIMS Learning Centre is functioning with a vision to serve the information needs of the academic community. It mainly holds books related to Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences. The library acquires more than 27655 volumes of books in its collection with different formats, of course, there are some collections which are special in nature. The library has a rich collection of Textbooks, Atlases, Dictionaries, Directories, Encyclopaedias, Technical Reports, special reading materials including Kannada books in general kind. It subscribes to more than 112 scholarly Journals, popular magazines, and full-text online databases such as Clinical Key, ProQuest, WHO Publications, PubMed, CME’s, etc. There is a wide range of open access contents pertains to the disciplines are also made available for the users. The library facilitates embargo free e-journals and Audio-Video materials for the users.

Digital Library

Digital Library has been established in the networked environment having 50 systems to access the e-Journals, e-Books, Audio-Videos, and other educational materials required for the clienteles. The library is computerized using Koha Library Software, students and staff can access the facility through it. After the initiation of the Adichunchanagiri University, the library is more focusing on academic and research activities simultaneously. The library facilitates Shodhganga ETDs and a URKUND similarity checker for the researchers, it has e-Library provisions for MOOCs, SWAYAM, NPTEL, etc. Learning Centre is also a member for the referral Centers namely INFLIBNET, DELNET, and National Digital Library.

Learning Centre

Learning Centre provides information and intellectual requirements to its community in a user-friendly approach. It offers a fully integrated and dynamic environment for conducting academic study. It provides Internet facility for seamless access to information. Multiple copies of textbooks ensure that resources are easily be made available in the collection. It Lending the books and journals to the PGs and staff. The library adopted an open access system and maintains OPAC. The library is using the National Library of Medicine (NLM) for Classification of documents and AACR-II modified for Catalog system to locate the reading materials. 

Learning Resource Centre conducts Orientation sessions for the freshers (UGs & PGs), and Workshops, Seminars, Webinars and training for the staff, students and researchers on various library resources and research tools, besides organizing the presentations by several e-resource providers/platforms. It also conducts in-house training for the Library staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.

The rules and regulations notified are subject to periodical reviews and revisions. Failure to comply with library rules and regulations may result in the loss of library privileges and may lead to college disciplinary measures.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Identity Card/Library Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
  2. Care should be taken on the library cards. Do not fold, alter entries made on the cards, Members are responsible for the cards issued to them. The loss of Library card should be reported to the librarian. A duplicate card may be issued against formal application and fine. Library cards are valid for the entire duration of the course to access the library facilities.
  3. The signature of the user is a must in the Entry Register at the time of entering and leaving the library.
  4. Belongings like bags, aprons and other receptacles are not allowed inside the library, such articles are to be left in the property counter provided in the library.
  5. Personal belongings should not be left unattended. The library cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage of personal belongings.
  6. Personal books are not allowed inside the library.
  7. Library is meant only for reference. The staff members and PG’s can get the loan facilities on subject to the condition of article writing/Seminar/Journal club for a period of 3 days.
  8. Loss or damage to library material on loan to a user should be reported immediately. The user must pay the cost of replacing a lost or seriously damaged book / Journals etc., in addition to that he/she has to pay the fine.
  9. All users leaving the library must show all books, folders, papers, etc. in their possession at the entrance counter to ensure nothing from the library is being taken out. Users may also be required to open for inspection any receptacle carried out of the library.
  10. All books/journals and other library materials are to be used with care. No user shall deface the library books by underlining or scribbling notes in the margins, etc.
  11. Books, journals, etc. taken from the shelves for reading are to be left on the tables after use and ‘not’ returned to the shelves.
  12. The library is meant for individual study, engaging in conversation/group discussion inside the library is prohibited. Strict silence and discipline must be maintained in the library.
  13. Chairs and tables and other library equipment, fittings and furniture may not be marked, defaced, disarranged, library decorum must be maintained.
  14. Mobile phones are to be kept in silent mode inside the library.
  15. All library users when making copies of library materials should strictly observe copyright law.
  16. Computers are for meant for educational purpose only, the use of the Internet in the library is for academic surfing, accessing unauthorized sites, playing games, etc. are strictly prohibited.
  17. Library users should not change the settings of the computers provided in the library.
  18. The library is under Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance.
  19. Notices, hand-outs or related materials may only be displayed in the library with the permission of the Librarian and in an approved fashion.
