Brief Report of the Event (in about 200 words) |
On the occasion of “Eye- Donation Fortnight” under the aegis of KOS and Department of Ophthalmology in association with Sri Adichunchanagiri institute of Pharmacy and Karnataka Ophthalmic Society conducted an interdisciplinary session on occasion of Eye Donation Fortnight on 17th September 2025 at Lecture Hall – 1, AIMS. The session was conducted under the guidance of Dr M G Shivaramu, Principal AIMS & Dean Health Sciences (Medical), ACU and the Chief invitee of the program, Dr Prakash Goudanavar Principal and Dean of Sri Adichunchanagiri institute of Pharmacy and was graced by the presence of Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal, AIMS, Dr. Niharika Shetty Krishna Professor and HOD, Department of Ophthalmology, AIMS, Dr. D N Prakash, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Dr Srinivas, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology and faculty of Pharmacy and faculty of ophthalmology.This session aimed at raising awareness about the importance of eye donation, specifically focusing on corneas to combat blindness and vision impairment. This program served as a beacon of awareness lightening the path to understanding the importance of eye donation and dispelling the myths that surround it. |

Feedback Analysis (Brief) |
Presentees gained knowledge about the causes and burden of corneal blindness in India and motivated them in sealing off the bridge of forethought’s and myths of eye donation. Presentees were also educated about the basic functioning of Eye Banking in India and management of preventable causes of blindness and were also given a brief ideology about the procedure of corneal transplantation. |
