Department of Pediatrics

Vision

Mission

The department of Pediatrics seeks to improve the health of rural children and beyond through the excellence in the care of patients and families, in research and in the education of clinicians and students.

Department of Paediatrics has 4 units & 120 beds along with 20 PICU, 20 NICU Beds. Department has High risk Child clinic, child development and guidance clinic for Early detection of childhood developmental disabilities and early intervention.

Pediatrics

  • The department of pediatrics has well planned more spacious infrastructure with all modern teaching aid facilities in every classroom, seminar room & demonstration room for the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • The department has highly qualified, most experienced, well trained and dedicated faculty, who train the students & takes care of neonates, infants, children, and adolescents at AH &RC.
  • Undergraduate training involves lectures, bedside clinics, tutorials, seminars and encouragement to participate in research work. Regular formative assessment is done in the form of case presentation and write-ups, end posting clinical examination.
  • Postgraduate training involves, case presentations, grand rounds, bedside teaching seminars, journal club, assignments & thesis presentations. They are encouraged to take up research projects apart from dissertation. PG students are permitted to attend the conferences, workshops and CME’s and present papers and to publish their work in the indexed journals. They are regularly assessed in theory as well as in clinical setting. The MBBS and postgraduate courses MD and DCH are MCI recognized. The undergraduate and post graduate teaching and guidance is excellent and the results over the years have been very good.

Goals:

The department strives to provide an efficient and cost-effective strategy to meet the needs of children during times of health as well as in times of illness.

  • To provide excellent and systematic healthcare to pediatric patients under one roof with provision of an intensive care facility.
  • We believe in prevention of disease and promotion of healthy life-styles for all children.

To train resident doctors & students to become competent in the practice of pediatric emergency medicine, as well as being capable of assuming leadership roles in  research, teaching, and administrative aspects of pediatric emergency medicine.

Objective:

  • To provide comprehensive and complex clinical care at the highest level.
  • To provide an excellent clinical expertise in the management of pediatric patients of all ages  with a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries
  • To cater dynamic education of learner professionals involved in pediatric health care.
  • To train resident doctors in the immediate recognition and treatment of life
     threatening medical illnesses, to identify emergency surgical cases and manage accordingly & how to manage a Medico legal case. 
  • To provide resident doctors, with the skills necessary to meet the emotional needs of patients, their families, and the pediatric emergency department staff during stressful  events such as sudden illness, injury and death.
  • To provide opportunities for the students to acquire skills in research design, research methodology & oral presentation of the scientific research work in the conferences.
  • To facilitate good working relationships with colleagues and consultants.
