Department of Physiology

Vision

To provide the best in class training to students in basic and applied physiology by adopting the most relevant teaching – learning methods & contribute significant new knowledge to the society through need based quality research works.

Physiology

The department was established in the year 1986 as part of the medical college offering Bachelor’s degree in medicine.

Programs offered: Human Physiology (as per R.G.U.H.S. & M.C.I regulations) for,

  1. Undergraduate courses – M.B.B.S., B.Sc. Nursing, GNM Nursing & PC B.Sc. Nursing (since inception)

  2. Postgraduate course – M.D. in Physiology. (since 2010)

  3. Integrated M.Sc., Ph.D. in Nutrition Biology course – in collaboration with CFTRI, Mysore. (since 2015)

Department is also involved in teaching programs with other pre-clinical, para-clinical & clinical departments for integrated learning sessions for both U.G. & P.G. courses.

Infrastructure & Learning resources:

  1. Spacious & well equipped laboratories for conduct of experiments on human volunteers & animals.

  2. Equally spacious & well equipped research laboratory providing facility for cardio-respiratory, exercise, autonomic function, neuro-muscular physiology research.

  3. Library, Lecture hall & demonstration rooms with AV aids & Wi-fi connectivity facilitating smart learning.
