Objectives of the event

· To introduce newly admitted AHS and BPT students to the academic structure, curriculum, and expectations of Adichunchanagiri University.

· To foster awareness of professional responsibilities, ethical conduct, and the values essential in the healthcare field.

· To promote a sense of community and belonging among students by familiarizing them with faculty members, institutional culture, and available support systems.

Brief Report of the Event

The Orientation Programme for Allied Health Sciences (AHS) and Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) students was successfully conducted on 17th October 2025 at the GBC Hall, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) under the auspices of Adichunchanagiri University.

The event commenced with an official inauguration ceremony, marked by the watering of the Tulsi plant, symbolizing growth, purity, and the beginning of an academic journey rooted in values and tradition.

The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. M. G. Shivaramu, Principal, AIMS & Dean, Faculty of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal, AIMS & Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Namitha D, Chief Programme Officer, Adichunchanagiri School of Allied Health Sciences (ASAHS), Dr. Nagendrappa M. S., Professor & Head, Department of Physiotherapy, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Laboratory Physiology along with faculty members from the Departments of Physiotherapy and Clinical Psychology.

Programme Highlights

•The session began with a Keynote Address by Dr. M. G. Shivaramu, who inspired the new students by emphasizing the importance of discipline, compassion, and commitment in healthcare education.

•Dr. Aliya Nusrath delivered an insightful talk on “Roles and Responsibilities of Students in Professional Courses”, highlighting ethics, academic integrity and teamwork.

•Dr. Namitha D provided an Overview of the Allied Health Sciences curriculum and syllabus, guiding students through academic expectations, evaluation methods and institutional support systems.

•Dr. Nagendrappa M. S. and Dr. Vijay Kumar shared detailed insights into the BPT and Clinical Psychology curriculum respectively, stressing the need for practical learning, clinical exposure and holistic professional development.
