The Department of ACU Learning Resource Centre organized a Training Programme on Koha and DSpace Software for ACU Librarians and supporting staff on 18.11.2025 at Audio-Visual Section of ACU Learning Resource Centre.  
 
*Objective of the Training Programme*  
– Reorient the Koha and DSpace software for the Librarians and supporting staffs of ACU, this is the third of its kind.  
– To equip the participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience of Koha and DSpace software and enable them to utilize the software for efficient library management and digital repository.  
– Equip participants with practical skills to implement and manage two leading open-source solutions without vendor lock-in. 
– Promote adoption of free and open-source software in libraries and academic institutions. 
– Foster self-reliance and reduce long-term costs of library automation and digital preservation. 
 
 
*Brief Description of the Training Programme*  
The training session was chaired by Dr. M G Shivaramu, Principal, AIMS & Dean, Health Sciences (Medical), ACU. The session was also graced by Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Professor of Biochemistry and Vice Principal, AIMS. The session was enriched by Dr. Vasanthakumar M, Chief Librarian, ACU and Dr. Triveni Hundekar, Trainer, M/S AppSpot Software India Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. All librarians and library staff from ACU constituent colleges attended the programme.
 
The training programme began with a keynote address by Dr. M G Shivaramu, Principal, AIMS & Dean, Health Sciences (Medical), ACU was inaugurated and graced the programme.  
Dr. Triveni Hundekar, Trainer, delivered  an effective and impactful training session for the ACU Librarians and supporting staffs. 
 
*Outcomes of the Event*  
1. Participants gained proficiency and understanding of open-source technology and its applications in libraries, particularly Koha integrated library system and DSpace repository software. 
2. The librarians were enriched the proficiency and confidence, improved library efficiency, digital preservation and integration and hands-on skill acquisition.  
3. The training equips the ACU librarians and supporting staff with the technical skills and enhances their knowledge to work independently and manage their libraries using Koha and DSpace software workflow. 
4. The participants were able to streamline their library workflows, improve resource management, and enhance overall efficiency.
