As part of the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0, The National Medical Commission (NMC) has mandated to establish Tobacco Cessation Centres (TCCs) in all medical colleges in India.
Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Jagat Prakash Nadda inaugurated the Tobacco Cessation Centers (TCCs) in all medical Institutions across India through a virtual platform between 11:50am to 12:00 pm on 24th September, 2024.
At Adichunchanagiri Hospital and Research Center, the inauguration was done by Chief of the hospital Dr. Shivakumar.K.M.
In his remarks, Dr. Shivakumar wished all the involved departments to collectively address the tobacco addiction which is widely prevalent and challenging.
The program was attended by faculty and students of departments of Medicine, Psychiatry, Respiratory medicine, Psychology, Dentistry and Community medicine.
Dr.M.G.Shivaramu, Principal, AIMS appreciated the whole team in operationalizing the tobacco cessation center.
