The Scientific Committee of Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS)* organized a Short-Term Studentship (STS) ICMR Proposal Writing Workshop for 1st and 2nd year MBBS students on 30th April 2025.
The objective of the workshop was to impart essential knowledge and skills required for formulating a well-structured, scientifically sound research proposal in alignment with STS ICMR guidelines.
The workshop was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Dr. M. G. Shivaramu, Dean, Faculty of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, and was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal, AIMS, Dr. Amita K, Coordinator and Scientific Committee members.

The academic sessions commenced post-registration and a pre-test conducted by Dr. Madhura M. The following sessions were conducted:
• How to Write an Introduction – Dr. Amita K
• Framing Objectives – Dr. Aliya Nusrath
• How to Search Literature – Dr. Rakshita H. B.
• How to Write Review of Literature – Dr. Dhanalakshmi T. A.
• How to Write Methodology – Dr. Raghavendra S. K.
• Writing Implications and References – Dr. Tejaswi H. L.
• Writing Title – Dr. Nitha
The sessions were designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of each component of a research proposal and to help students develop their own STS projects independently.
The workshop concluded with a post-test and collection of participant feedback. A valedictory ceremony was held, during which certificates were distributed to all the resource faculty as a token of appreciation.
Outcome
The workshop was highly successful in equipping the participants with foundational research skills. It empowered the 1st and 2nd-year MBBS students with the confidence and competence to draft methodologically sound STS ICMR proposals, aligning with ethical and academic standards.
