The Department of Biochemistry at AIMS, BG Nagara, in collaboration with the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences (KoIMS), successfully organized an alumni talk on “Detoxification Pathways: From Basics to Clinical Applications” on March 7, 2025.
 
The session featured Dr. Divija D A, Assistant Professor at the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Kodagu, and a distinguished PG alumna, who provided valuable insights into xenobiotic metabolism and its clinical significance.
 
The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. MG Shivaramu, Principal of AIMS and Dean of Health Sciences (Medical), ACU and was coordinated by Dr. Asharani N, Professor and Head of the Department, as the Organizing Chairperson, and Mr. Somashekar G N, Assistant Professor, as the Organizing Secretary, with contributions from all faculty members.
 
The inaugural function was marked by the presence Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Professor and Vice Principal, along with Dr. Tejaswi HL, Dr. Anand KSS, and Dr. Raghavendra SK, Heads of Phase 1 Departments. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Aliya Nusrath, setting the stage for an engaging academic discussion.
 
During guest Lecture, Dr. Divija D A, elaborated on the enzymatic pathways of biotransformation, the roles of Phase I and Phase II reactions, and their clinical relevance. The interactive discussions and thought-provoking queries from students made the session highly engaging. It significantly enriched their understanding of drug metabolism and toxicology, encouraging a deeper interest in biochemistry research.
 
The session saw enthusiastic participation from 250 MBBS students and faculty members across various departments.
