Code of Conduct Committee

Scope

The scope of the Code of Conduct Committee encompasses the development, implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of the code of conduct within the institution. The committee’s responsibilities include addressing ethical concerns, investigating alleged violations, and ensuring that all members of the institution adhere to the established standards of behaviour.

Objectives

  1. Promote Ethical Behaviour: To foster an environment of integrity, respect, and professionalism among all members of the institution.
  2. Ensure Compliance: To ensure that all members of the institution understand and comply with the code of conduct.
  3. Resolve Conflicts: To address and resolve any conflicts or violations of the code of conduct promptly and fairly.
  4. Educate and Train: To provide education and training on ethical behaviour and the code of conduct to all members of the institution.
  5. Continuous Improvement: To regularly review and update the code of conduct to reflect evolving standards and practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

Committee Members

  1. Chairperson:
    • Lead the committee and coordinate its activities.
    • Represent the committee in meetings with institutional leadership.
    • Ensure timely and effective resolution of all reported violations.
  2. Secretary:
    • Maintain records of all committee meetings and decisions.
    • Coordinate communication between the committee and other institutional bodies.
    • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of reports and educational materials.
  3. Members:
    • Participate in all committee meetings and activities.
    • Review cases of alleged violations and participate in investigations.
    • Provide input on updates and revisions to the code of conduct.

Responsibilities of the Committee

  1. Policy Development:
    • Develop and periodically review the code of conduct.
    • Ensure the code aligns with the institution’s mission, vision, and values.
  2. Education and Training:
    • Organize workshops and seminars to educate members of the institution about the code of conduct.
    • Provide training on ethical decision-making and conflict resolution.
  3. Monitoring and Enforcement:
    • Monitor compliance with the code of conduct across the institution.
    • Investigate reported violations and take appropriate action.
    • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality during investigations.
  4. Conflict Resolution:
    • Address conflicts and complaints related to the code of conduct.
    • Mediate disputes and recommend corrective actions.
  5. Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on the committee’s activities to institutional leadership.
    • Document all cases of violations and actions taken by the committee.

    • Solicit feedback from the institution’s community to improve the code of conduct.
    • Stay updated with best practices in ethical standards and incorporate them into the code.
