BGS College of Education, Under NSS Unit-10, organised Mental Health Awareness Program for 1st Year B.Ed Teacher Trainees on the occasion of World Mental Health Day October-2025.
Bramaramba D Honnugudi, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology and Bharath Bhushan M.N, Consultant PSW, Department of Psychiatry, AIMS, B.G.Nagara were the resource person for the program.
**Objective of the Event:**
*Primary Objectives:*
-To understand the concept of mental health and its significance in the teaching-learning process
-To recognize common mental health issues among students
-To develop empathy and a supportive attitude towards students with mental health concerns
-To identify signs and symptoms of mental health issues in students
-To learn effective strategies for promoting positive mental health
**Brief Description of the Event:**
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, BGS College of Education, NSS Unit – 10 in collaboration with Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences was successfully organised Mental Health Awareness Program for 1st year B.Ed teacher trainees on the occasion of World Mental Health Day October-2025, at Seminar Hall, BGSCE Panchajanya Building on 17th October 2025.
The program commenced with an invocation song by students. Mr.C.L.Shivanna, Organiser and NSS Officer Unit-10, BGS College of Education warmly welcomed the guest speakers and delivered the inaugural speech. Later the session was handed over to the esteemed speakers.
The first session commenced with engaging ice breaking activities.
Mr.Bharath Bhushan MN, Consultant PSW, Department of Psychiatry and the guest speaker delivered a talk on mental health, covering the significance of celebrating Mental Health Day, characteristics of a mentally healthy person, causes of mental illness, and provided valuable insights into various psychiatric disorders including it’s signs and symptoms.
Ms. Bramaramba D Honnugudi, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology, Department of Clinical Psychology and guest speaker elaborated on treatment options for various psychiatric disorders, discussing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions and emphasized the importance of healthy practices for maintaining positive mental health and later concluded with impactful take home messages for the students.
Later the program concluded with a vote of thanks.

-Students actively participated, asked questions, and clarified their doubts with the speakers.
