Objectives of the Event

The primary objective of this talk was to enhance the clinical understanding of severity of End stage Liver disease and the various scoring systems used to classify the same. As this talk was a part of session on Anesthetic management of patients with ESLD and ESRD, the aim was to educate the residents about thye challenges faced by anesthesiologists in managing such cases.

Brief Report of the Event (within 200 words)

Dr.Ahmedi Fathima, associate professor in the department of Anesthesiology, was invited to deliver a talk on the topic; “MELD in our hands:Anesthesia scoring systems for End stage Liver disease”, as part of state level conference organized by ISACON Karnataka state chapter, held in Mangaluru from 8th august to 10th august 2025.

The talk was a part of session on Anesthetic management of patients with ESLD & ESRD. It was held on 9th august at Father Muller convention centre, Mangaluru and the duration was 15 minutes.

The talk was about the various scoring systems used in ESLD, its application in anesthesia for management of these cases.

It was followed by question & answer session where residents posed queries related to the topic and the same were clarified by the speakers and subject experts.

The feedback received for the talk was good.

Outcome

The talk “MELD in our hands:Anesthesia scoring systems for End stage Liver disease” successfully met its goal of updating participants on the various scoring systems proposed over a period of time.
