
In observance of World Cancer Day, the Departments of Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Oncology, Community Medicine, Radiology, and Dental Sciences, in association with AIMS Youth Red Cross (YRC) and National Service Scheme (NSS), organized a Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp at the New Pharmacy Hall, AH & RC New Building, BG Nagar.
The event was inaugurated by distinguished guests including Sri Sri Sathkeerthinathaswamiji, Adichunchanagiri shakha matha Nagamangala, Dr K M Shivakumar(Chief of Hospital), Dr K S Ravi( Vice Principal), Dr. Aliya Nusrath (Vice Principal), Dr. Balakrishna (Professor, Department of Surgery), Dr. Somashekhar(RMO), Dr. Nandini S Raj (YRC Coordinator), Dr. Keerthi( YRC Member). Around 50 members of the general public and 30 YRC and NSS volunteers actively participated in the event.
The session emphasized the importance of early detection of cancer through regular screening methods such as breast self–examination, mammography, Pap smear, oral screening, and colonoscopy, based on age and individual risk factors. 50 Patients took a benefit of OPD consultations and various investigative procedures To reinforce the key messages of cancer prevention and awareness, YRC student members conducted poster presentations and delivered an effective awareness talk, helping to dispel myths and misconceptions related to cancer. The program successfully promoted community awareness, early diagnosis, and preventive healthcare, reinforcing the message that early detection saves lives.
