The Department of Pediatrics, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), in collaboration with the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, AIMS, and in association with the Karnataka State Medico Legal Chapter, KIAP, successfully conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Consumer Protection Act and POCSO” on 24th September 2025 under the auspices of Adichunchanagiri University.
 
The event commenced with an official inauguration ceremony marked by the watering of the Tulsi plant, symbolizing purity and growth. The programme was graced by; Shri Umesh, Registrar, AIMS & Finance Officer, ACU; Dr. Venkatachalapathy M, President, Karnataka Medico Legal Chapter, KIAP; Dr. Nithyananda S. K, Past President, Karnataka Medico Legal Chapter, KIAP; and Dr. K. B. Mahendrappa, Professor & HOD, Department of Pediatrics, along with faculty members and students from various specialties.
 
 *Programme Highlights* :
• Dr. Venkatachalapathy M elaborated on the nuances of the CPA, highlighting the importance of proper documentation, patient counseling, and awareness to prevent medico-legal complications.
• Dr. Nithyananda S. K delivered an engaging lecture on POCSO, covering its legal implications and procedures, followed by a highly interactive discussion with participants.
• Dr. K. B. Mahendrappa welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of legal awareness in medical practice to prevent unintentional malpractice and ensure effective communication with patients and attenders.
 
 *Outcomes:* 
The CME enriched the knowledge of faculty, postgraduates, and students on medico-legal responsibilities under the CPA and POCSO. The interactive discussions provided clarity on handling POCSO cases and preventive measures to avoid consumer-related issues. The session was highly informative, interactive, and beneficial to all attendees.
