ACU Learning Resource Centre in association with IAQC, AIMS, and LIS Academy, Bengaluru, conducted a workshop on *”Cite While You Write: A Hands-on Experience with Zotero”* on 23rd April 2025 at MEU Hall, AIMS on the occasion of *“World Book and Copyright Day” – 2025.*
The workshop was conducted in the presence of Dr M G Shivaramu, Principal AIMS & Dean Health Sciences (Medical) ACU, who chaired and graced the occasion. The session was also graced by the presence of Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal AIMS, Mr. Umesh B K, Registrar, AIMS, and Finance Officer, ACU and Dr. Vasanthakumar M, Chief Librarian, ACU & members of the IQAC and Scientific Committee.
The *esteemed speaker, Dr. Rupesh Kumar A*, Associate Professor, Department of Studies and Research in Library and Information Science, Tumkur University, Tumakuru provided a hands-on training on utilizing Zotero for Reference management – a free open-source software to collect, organise, cite and share research materials for students, researchers, and academics who need to manage citations and bibliographies. His session covered the key concepts of citation manager, features, benefits, uses, practical demonstrations, and real-world applications for writing and publishing articles/dissertations.
The objective of the workshop was to equip the audience with practical knowledge and hands-on experience of the Citation Manager using Zotero. The application provides reference management, bibliography generation, Word document plug-in, browser integration, PDF management, tagging and organization, customizes citation styles, and collaboration for writing scientific documents, manages researchers’ data, and utilizes advanced search and filter options.
Outcome of the programme: Participants gained proficiency in using Zotero for reference management, research organisation, citing sources, web integration for “Cite While You Write” option in writing the document, and sharing research for collaborative activity and customize citations styles to meet journal requirements, sync references across devices with secure backups, and create annotated bibliographies and attach notes.
