On *14th November 2025, the Department of Community Medicine, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), organized a diabetes screening and awareness programme at the Family Adoption Villages and RHTC Service Villages, specifically in Kadabhalli and Lalinakere.* The initiative aimed to educate the rural population about diabetes, its risk factors, symptoms, complications, and preventive measures, while promoting lifestyle modification and regular health screening.
 
As part of the observance of *World Diabetes Day 2025,* the *Department of Community Medicine, AIMS* , conducted a diabetes screening and awareness programme in the Family Adoption villages and RHTC service villages. The programme aimed to educate the rural population about diabetes, its risk factors, symptoms, complications, preventive strategies, and the importance of lifestyle modification and regular screening.
 
The initiative saw active participation from the Community Medicine faculty, MSWs, and interns, who conducted awareness sessions and hands-on screening.
 
 *Programme Outcomes* 
• Over 200 individuals were screened for diabetes.
• Individuals with abnormal findings were counselled and referred for further evaluation and follow-up at AIMS Hospital and RHTC.
• The programme successfully enhanced community awareness and supported early detection of diabetes.
• The Department of Community Medicine aims to continue community-oriented health initiatives to prevent non-communicable diseases.
