The Internship Orientation Programme for the MBBS students of 2020 Batch was successfully held on 15th April 2025 at the BGS Global Broadcasting Centre, AIMS. Organized by the Medical Education Unit (MEU), the programme aimed to prepare interns for clinical duties by addressing key areas such as hospital responsibilities, NMC guidelines, infection control, biomedical waste management, and research opportunities.
 
A total of 160 participants (150 interns and 10 resource persons) attended the full-day event. 
 
Dr. K.M.Shivakumar, Chief of Hospital, AHRC and Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal, AIMS inaugurated the program. Dr.Shivakumar.K.M, Chief of the Hospital,  Adichunchanagiri hospital and research centre briefed about the roles and responsibilities of interns.  Dr.Aliya Nusrath gave a key note address on the occasion. Dr. Tejaswi.H.L, Convener, MEU coordinated the overall event.
 
Dr. Vinay.H.R, Associate professor of Psychiatry took the session on ‘NMC new internship guidelines’. Dr. Ashwini.B, Assistant professor in OBG, explained about safety in blood transfusion ‘. Dr. Shilpashree.Y.D, Associate professor in Biochemistry dealt with the topic ‘Hospital infection control ‘. The sessions on specimen collection guidelines for lab testing in biochemistry and pathology were taken by Dr. Namitha.D and Dr. Rakshitha.H.B respectively. Dr. Asharani.N, Professor and Head in biochemistry engaged the interns about Biomedical waste management and Dr. Raghavendra .S.K, Associate professor in community medicine dealt with post exposure prophylaxis. Dr. Abhilash.V, an outgoing intern briefed the audience about research opportunities in internship. Feedback was taken from the participants and e-certificates were given.
 
The programme was well-received, with positive feedback highlighting the relevance and clarity of sessions. Participants suggested incorporating more hands-on components in future editions. The event effectively enhanced interns’ readiness and professional orientation.
