Brief Report of the Event (about 200 words) |
The Department of Community Medicine, AIMS, along with AIMS NSS Units 1 & 2, actively participated in the National Pulse Polio Immunization Programme on 28 June 2026 in collaboration with CHC Bellur, RHTC Kadabahalli, RHTC AC Giri, and Rotary B.G. Nagara Central. The programme was inaugurated at CHC Bellur by the ARS Members in the presence of Dr. Raghavendra S. K., Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, and Dr. Lakshmikanth N., Medical Officer, CHC Bellur. Faculty members, Community Medicine postgraduate students, MSW students, interns, NSS volunteers, and healthcare staff actively participated in the immunization programme. Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) was administered to children below five years of age at immunization booths established at CHC Bellur, Adichunchanagiri Temple, Toll Plaza (Bellur Cross), Kadabahalli, and other outreach session sites. The teams also assisted in beneficiary registration, crowd management, health education, and community awareness activities, ensuring that every eligible child received the vaccine. The programme successfully strengthened community participation and reinforced the importance of universal immunization in sustaining India’s polio-free status. |
