Vice Principal (Dr. Aliya Nusrath)

Dr. Aliya Nusrath, MBBS, MD, ACME, currently serves as the Vice Principal, IQAC Coordinator, and Professor & Head of the Department of Biochemistry at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), B.G. Nagara, under the Faculty of Medical & Allied Health Sciences, Adichunchanagiri University (ACU). With 28 years of undergraduate teaching experience and 25 years of postgraduate teaching experience, she is recognized as an accomplished academic leader, administrator, researcher, and medical education expert who has made significant contributions to institutional growth, academic excellence, and quality assurance.

As Vice Principal, Dr. Aliya Nusrath, provides strategic leadership in academic administration, faculty development, student support, and institutional governance. She has played a vital role in strengthening academic standards, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensuring the effective implementation of National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines. Her leadership has fostered a culture of professionalism, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the institution.

In her role as IQAC Coordinator, she has been instrumental in establishing a robust quality assurance system at AIMS. She leads institutional quality initiatives, academic and administrative audits, accreditation documentation, and continuous quality improvement activities. Her contributions have been significant in NAAC accreditation and institutional ranking initiatives, helping strengthen governance, academic quality, and outcome-based education across the institution.

As Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Nusrath has led the department for more than fifteen years with distinction. She has been instrumental in implementing Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) for First MBBS Biochemistry at AIMS and has actively contributed to curriculum development at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru. Her efforts have enhanced competency-based learning, innovative teaching practices, and faculty development.

Dr. Aliya Nusrath, has also made remarkable contributions to research and academic scholarship. She has authored the book “Competency Based Clinical Biochemistry: A Practical Manual for First MBBS Students”, published more than 50 research papers in indexed national and international journals, and serves as a recognized MD and Ph.D. guide under both RGUHS and Adichunchanagiri University, currently guiding eight Ph.D. scholars.

Her leadership extends to university governance through her service as Chairperson of the Board of Preclinical Medical Studies (2020–2022) and Member of the Academic Council (2018–2020 & 2026–2028) of Adichunchanagiri University. She has also served as the Organizing Chairman of AMBKCCON 2024 and coordinated numerous medical education, research, and faculty development programmes.

A Secretary of the Association of Medical Biochemists, Karnataka Chapter, and a Life Member of the Association of Medical Biochemists of India and the Indian Medical Association, Dr. Aliya Nusrath continues to inspire excellence through visionary leadership, academic innovation, research mentorship, and an unwavering commitment to quality medical education, contributing significantly to the continued advancement and national recognition of Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences.
