The Nutritional Week Quiz Competition was graced by the presence of Dr. Raghavendra S. K. (HOD, Department of Community Medicine), Dr. Shashikiran M. (Professor), Dr. Harsha Kumar, Dr. Krishnaveni (Assistant Professor), Dr. Varsha G. (Assistant Professor), Dr. Madhura M. M. (Assistant Professor), Dr. Swetha (Assistant Professor), and Smt. Veena (Lecturer). The event also saw participation from Dr. Kanchana N. Raj, Dr. Sujean J. N., postgraduates and interns from the Department of Community Medicine, Mr. Yathish, Mr. Nagaraj (MSW, Department of Community Medicine), along with Phase 3 students.

The key objectives include: 

1. To create awareness among medical students about the importance of nutrition in health and disease prevention.

4. To commemorate National Nutrition Week 2025 by engaging students in an interactive and educational activity.

 

Brief report of the event (in about 200 words)

As part of National Nutrition Week 2025, the Department of Community Medicine, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, organized a Quiz Competition for Phase 3 undergraduate students. The event was conducted to enhance awareness on the theme “Eat Right for a Better Life” and to encourage active participation in learning about nutrition and health promotion.

The program was attended by Dr. Raghavendra S. K. (HOD, Department of Community Medicine), Dr. Shashikiran M. (Professor), Dr. Harsha Kumar, Dr. Krishnaveni (Assistant Professor), Dr. Varsha G. (Assistant Professor), Dr. Madhura M. M. (Assistant Professor), Dr. Swetha (Assistant Professor), and Smt. Veena (Lecturer). Also present were Dr. Kanchana N. Raj, Dr. Sujean J. N., postgraduates and interns from the Department of Community Medicine, Mr. Yathish, Mr. Nagaraj (MSW), and Phase 3 students.

The quiz was conducted in multiple rounds covering topics such as balanced diet, micronutrient deficiencies, obesity, lifestyle diseases, and preventive strategies. Students actively participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating excellent teamwork and competitive spirit.

The event not only tested the knowledge of participants but also provided an interactive platform for reinforcing key nutritional concepts. Overall, the program was successful in creating awareness, fostering interest in preventive health, and celebrating the importance of nutrition among students.
