Guest Lecture on “Cleanliness and Hygiene”
On February 17th, 2023, the Department of Microbiology at AIMS, in collaboration with the Government College of Education, Mysuru, organized a Special Guest Lecture on “Cleanliness and Hygiene.” Dr. Dhanalaxmi, a distinguished Professor of Microbiology at AIMS, delivered an enlightening talk aimed at emphasizing the critical role of cleanliness and hygiene in safeguarding public health. With over 100 B.Ed students in attendance, the lecture served as an opportunity to educate future educators about the significance of integrating hygiene practices into educational settings. The event’s objectives were to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene and to instill a culture of cleanliness among future educators, thereby positively impacting the broader community.
The outcomes of the lecture were promising, with B.Ed students demonstrating increased awareness of hygiene’s importance and a deeper understanding of their role in promoting hygiene practices among students. The event potentially paved the way for improved hygiene standards within educational institutions, with educated educators poised to disseminate knowledge and practices to their students and communities. Moreover, the collaboration between academic institutions and microbiology experts hinted at future partnerships aimed at further advancing hygiene education and practices, potentially contributing to long-term public health improvements in the region.
