Workshop on CATALYST- Catalysing Analytical Thinking and Learning using AI for Scientific Transformation.
The two-day workshop was conducted by the Department of Community Medicine & Scientific Committee, AIMS In Collaboration with Indian Society for Clinical Research (ISCR) on 30th and 31st January 2026 at the MEU Hall, AIMS.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Aliya Nusrath (Vice Principal, Professor & Head, Department of Biochemistry), Dr. Amita K (Scientific Committee Coordinator, Professor, Department of Pathology, AIMS), and Dr. Raghavendra S. K (Associate Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, AIMS).
The resource persons included Dr. Animesh Jain, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KMC Mangalore; Dr. Asha B, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, SSIMS & RC, Davanagere; Dr. Sheethal M. P, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, SCMCH & RI, Channapatna; and Dr. Raghavendra S. K, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, AIMS.
Faculty members and postgraduate students from various departments, AIMS Scientific Committee members actively participated in the workshop.
Day 1 focused on AI for research and academic writing, covering literature search, writing tools, data analysis, plagiarism detection and ethical issues through hands-on sessions.
Day 2 emphasized AI in medical education with AI-based teaching aids, assessment creation, and student engagement tools like quiz and gamification.
The workshop included interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and collaborative activities.Overall, it effectively blended theory with real-world applications of AI in research and education.
Objectives- The workshop aimed to introduce the use of AI in research, academic writing, and medical education. It focused on enhancing analytical skills through AI tools. The program also emphasized ethical AI practices and awareness of clinical research initiatives through ISCR.
Outcome-The workshop enhanced participants’ understanding of AI in research and medical education while improving skills in literature review, academic writing, data analysis, with a focus on ethical use.
It also motivated faculty and researchers to integrate AI tools into daily practice and strengthened collaboration between AIMS and organizations like ISCR.
