Day 1 of Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) Workshop
The first day of the Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) workshop, scheduled to be held from 25th to 27th September 2024 commenced with 30 participants under the observership of Ramiah Medical College, NMC Regional Center for Faculty Development.
The day began with registration and an introductory session focused on group dynamics, followed by team-building exercises. Participants were introduced to the key concepts of group dynamics, which set the stage for collaborative learning throughout the workshop. Later, participants explored the learning process, learning domains, and principles of learning, alongside discussions on goals, roles, and competencies within the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) framework.
In the afternoon, participants delved into various teaching-learning methods, including interactive and small group methods, emphasizing the evolving role of educators as facilitators. The day also covered the principles of assessment, with special attention to internal assessment (IA) and formative assessment. The sessions highlighted the importance of effective feedback in enhancing student learning outcomes. The first day laid a solid foundation for participants, equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of group dynamics, learning principles, and assessment strategies, setting the tone for the remaining two days of the workshop.
