On December 8, 2023, the Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Committee collaborated with People Urge for Rights and Equality (PURE) to celebrate International Men’s Day. The objectives of the event were to celebrate Men’s Day, address the challenges and opportunities in a man’s mind through an interactive guest lecture, and promote awareness about men’s well-being and the importance of a balanced life.
The lecture, titled “A Man’s Mind: Challenges and Opportunities,” was delivered by Dr. Vasudha Rao, a Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist from Swasthi Clinic, Mysuru. Dr. Rao’s presentation delved into the challenges faced by men at different life stages, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a balanced life with practical examples. The event also included the distribution of prizes to men in various categories, as elected by final-year undergraduate students and interns.
The outcomes included increased awareness among the audience about men’s challenges, promotion of discussions on maintaining a balanced life and addressing mental health concerns, recognition of men through a student-elected award ceremony, and the strengthening of collaboration between AIMS, PURE, and other organizations focused on gender equality and well-being.
