In view of celebrating “National Library Week” at AIMS from November 14th-20th,2021, the AIMS Learning Resource Centre in association with AIMS-IQAC and NAAC,organizeda webinar through Google meet platform on “Intellectual Property Rights” for the faculty members and Postgraduateson 17th November 2021.Dr. Anand Byrappa, Head, Office of Data and Tata Memorial Library, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was the resource person.
The session started with a welcome address,followed by the introduction of the speaker by Dr. Vasanthakumar M, Chief Librarian, LRC-AIMS. Dr. M G Shivaramu, Principal AIMS & Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences (Medical), ACU delivered the keynote address.
The speaker set the context of how the IPR plays a vital role in the digital age with the perspectives of education and learning. He further explained the scope and importance of “Intellectual Property Rights”,in dealing with patents, publications, and products as the elements of property having ownership for the specified period&providing legal protection to intellectual property creators.
The speaker also informed about the role of national and international intellectual property rights organizations in protecting the rights of property.
The presentation was a comprehensive and insightful one. After the presentation, there was an interactive session. The webinar was attended by faculty members from all departments and various committees of AIMS and also a few faculty from ACU Constituent Colleges.
