Objectives of the event |
To commemorate World Hypertension Day and enhance awareness regarding hypertension, its prevention, diagnosis, and management among healthcare professionals and postgraduate students through expert lectures and academic discussions. Specific Objectives * Update participants on the latest hypertension management guidelines. * Discuss the evaluation and management of resistant hypertension. * Promote evidence-based clinical practice. * Strengthen academic collaboration between General Medicine and Cardiology departments. * Improve patient care outcomes through knowledge dissemination. |

Brief Report of the Event |
The event began with an invocation song seeking the blessings of the Almighty and Paramapoojya Swamiji, followed by the formal inauguration of the program. Welcome address and introduction of the guest speakers by Dr. Ravi B N, Professor and Head, Department of General Medicine, AIMS The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries including: * Dr. Aliya Nusrath,Vice Principal, AIMS and Dean, Faculty of Medical & AHS, ACU * Dr. K M Shivakumar, Chief of Hospital, AH & RC, ACU * Faculty members, postgraduate students, interns, and MBBS students from various departments. Scientific Session I Topic: Latest Guidelines in the Management of Hypertension Speaker: Dr. K. Subramanyam Professor & In-charge Cardiologist, SJIC & R – Satellite Unit, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru Chairpersons: * Dr. K M Shivakumar * Dr. Basavaraju M M Dr. Subramanyam delivered an insightful lecture highlighting recent recommendations in hypertension management, updated BP targets, risk stratification, lifestyle modifications, and pharmacological treatment strategies. The session emphasized evidence-based approaches to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Scientific Session II Topic: Resistant Hypertension Speaker: Dr. Satish Karur Professor and Unit Head, Department of Cardiology, SJICR, Bengaluru Chairpersons: * Dr. Shashikantha * Dr. Rajashekar H K Dr. Satish Karur provided a comprehensive overview of resistant hypertension, discussing diagnostic evaluation, secondary causes, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and current therapeutic approaches. The session included case-based discussions that encouraged active participation from attendees. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Rajashekar H K, Professor, Department of General Medicine, AIMS. |
