On January 25, 2024, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) commemorated the 14th National Voter’s Day with a “Voting Pledge” Program organized by the NSS Unit and the Department of Community Medicine. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of voting in a democracy and educate 250 participating students on their civic responsibilities. Dr. Venkatesha D, Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, highlighted the role of voting, and Dr. Vijay Hugar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Community Medicine, discussed the responsibilities of youth in elections. Led by Dr. Shashikiran, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, students took the voting pledge, demonstrating their commitment to responsible citizenship.
The outcomes were notable, reflecting an enhanced understanding of voting’s significance among the students, an increased sense of civic responsibility, and a tangible commitment from all 250 participants to actively engage in future elections. The event successfully left a positive impact, fostering a more informed and engaged youth for democratic processes ahead.
