Department of Community Medicine, NSS Unit AIMS have observed National Deworming day on 10TH February 2024 at BGS Model Public School B G Nagar.
On this occasion an awareness session was conducted at BGS Model Public School B G Nagar. Dr. Shashikiran M addressed the school children at BGS Model Public School and briefed them about importance of Hand hygiene in prevention and control of worm infestation. Around 500 students took part actively during the session, followed by demonstration of hand washing techniques and skit by the interns.
Dr.Keerthi R, Dr.Madhura MM addressed the gathering and explained about signs and symptoms of worm infestation, preventive measures of worms and Deworming. Later students of Adichunchanagiri Higher primary school students performed a Awareness street play on National Deworming Day.
Mr.Puttaswamygowda Principal of model pubic school addressed all students and faculty for enriching student’s knowledge regarding Deworming day hygiene practices.
Dr.Vijay S Hugar , Dr.Kanchana (P G), Dr.Prabudev M C, and Mr.Nagaraja, MSW Dept of Community Medicine Mr.Varun (PG-MPH) were present in the program.
The objective of the program was to deworm all pre-school and school-age children (enrolled and non-enrolled) between the ages of 1-19 years through the platform of schools and Anganawadi Centers in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.
