In commemoration of *World Diabetes Day* on November 14, 2023, under the theme *”Ensuring Access to Diabetic Care,”* the Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with the NSS AIMS unit, organized a diabetes screening initiative from November 20th to 24th, 2023, in villages adopted under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan by AIMS.
The objective of the campaign was to identify individuals at high risk and those without symptoms who may have diabetes.
Throughout the event, our medical professionals provided community members with education on the importance of early diabetes detection. Emphasis was placed on adopting a balanced diet, maintaining a regular exercise routine, and embracing a healthy lifestyle to effectively manage blood sugar levels and prevent serious complications.
Screening was conducted in Chakenahalli, Varahasandra, and Sriranagapura villages, involving a total of 180 individuals. Significantly, 55 individuals were detected with elevated blood sugar levels. Following this, these individuals were directed to AIMS for additional management and follow-up care. The initiative heightened awareness, encouraged early detection, and facilitated the management of diabetes in the community.
