The Department of Physiology in association with Mysore Vivekananda Yoga Education and Research Institute, conducted a Guest Lecture programme on “Yoga in Health and Disease”, on 20th June 2025 at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences. The event was graced by Dr Aliya Nusrath, Vice-Principal, AIMS, Dr Ajay N, Professor, Department of Anatomy, Dr Anand K S S, Professor and Head, Department of Physiology, Mrs Jyothi Nandish, Guest Speaker, Master Havish, Yoga Demonstrator, Dr Jagadish Hagalwadi, Retired Physical Education Teacher.
*Objective of the Event:*
The program aimed to enhance knowledge on benefits of yoga on health, and protocols to be followed while performing Yoga.
The keynote address for the program, was given by Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice-Principal. The speaker of the program was Mrs Jyothi Nandish, Yoga Protocol Instructor, Pranava Jyothi Yoga centre, who briefed about benefits of yoga, its origin. She also briefed about proper steps to be followed while performing different asanas. Demonstration of different asanas was then done by Master Havish.
*Outcomes of the Event:*
The participants gained deeper understanding of Yoga and it’s benefits in health. Students learnt about proper protocol to be followed during yoga.
