Brief report of the event (in about 200 words)

The 36th Annual State Conference of the Karnataka Association of Community Health (KACHCON 2026) was held on 24–25 July 2026 at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, under the theme “Sustainable Development Goals. The Way Forward.” The conference served as a platform for academicians, public health professionals, researchers, and postgraduate students to discuss current public health issues, exchange scientific knowledge, and promote evidence-based strategies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the pre-conference activities, the postgraduate students attended a workshop on “Diabetes and Community Health,” which focused on the prevention, early detection, and community-based management of diabetes.

During the scientific sessions, Dr. Sujean J. N., Second-Year Postgraduate, Department of Community Medicine, AIMS had presented a poster titled “Assessment of Household Waste Management Practices in Rural South Indian Villages.” The presentation highlighted the findings of a community-based study and emphasised the importance of proper waste segregation, safe disposal practices, and community awareness in improving environmental health and supporting sustainable rural development.

Feedback Analysis (brief)

KACHCON 2026 was a well-organized and academically enriching conference that provided an excellent platform for learning, networking, and sharing research in the field of Community Medicine. The scientific sessions, keynote lectures, and panel discussions were highly informative and relevant to current public health challenges. The pre-conference workshop on “Diabetes and Community Health” enhanced our understanding of community-based prevention and management of diabetes. The conference also offered valuable opportunities for postgraduate students to present their research and receive constructive feedback from experts. Overall, the event strengthened our knowledge of public health, promoted evidence-based practice, and inspired us to contribute more effectively towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
