The Department of Ophthalmology conducted an orientation programme for Phase III Part 1 MBBS students. It introduced them to the department, the clinical posting and the assessment pattern.
The programme covered the following sessions:
- Introduction: Dr. Manish, 2nd-year Postgraduate, delivered the introductory address and introduced the department faculty.
- Rules and regulations for clinical posting: Dr. Praveen, Senior Resident, explained the conduct of ward rounds, simulation lab sessions and tutorials.
- DOAP sessions: Dr. Chaitra K, Senior Resident, briefed students on the Demonstrate–Observe–Assist–Perform sessions.
- Curriculum, syllabus and logbook: Students were oriented to the competency-based curriculum, the syllabus and logbook maintenance.
- Assessment: Dr. Nagarjun P, Junior Resident, explained the internal and formative assessment pattern.
- Department and OPD visit: Dr. Nagarjun, Senior Resident, gave instructions for the department and OPD visit.
The programme familiarised students with the expectations, learning activities and assessment methods of the ophthalmology posting.
