ORGAN DONATION AND TRANSPLANTATION’’ AWARENESS and “POSTER COMPETITION “ was organized by Department of Forensic Medicine in association with Student support cell, AIMS on 27th November 2022.
Objectives of the event was to create Awareness on “ORGAN DONATION AND TRANSPLANTATION” with a POSTER COMPETITION on account of celebration of NATIONAL ORGAN DONATION Day(27th November) among Students & Health Care Professionals.
Dr Shivaramu MG , Dean, Health Sciences (Medical) ACU , Principal, AIMS inaugurated the program and gave a keynote address highlighting the importance of such programs and nobility and altruism associated with Organ Donation.
Guest lecture – Resource persons:
1. Dr Sunil Shenvi, Multiorgan Transplant Surgeon – spoke on various aspects of Brain Death and Certification along with its importance viz-a-viz Deceased Organ donation and Transplantation.
2. Ms Rajini, Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation – gave valuable insights about importance of Organ Donation and the legalities and Logistics involved in Organ Donation, Retieval and Grief counselling with respect to Brain dead patients.
Top three Posters were selected and rewarded with certificates and mementos.
Program was attended by Medical undergraduates and Nursing students of ACU and faculties from various departments. It was a very interactive session and all supported for the pledge cause of Organ Donation.
The event was coordinated by Dr Kumar U, Prof & Head, Dr Vijay Kumar A G, Professor and Dr Chinmayi Yelauri, Assistant Professor from the Dept of Forensic Medicine, AIMS, B G Nagara.
