The Department of Pathology at AIMS proudly organized a two-day celebration to mark National Pathology Day on 17th and 18th April 2025. This annual observance honors the *birth anniversary of Dr. Vasant Rao Khanolkar*, a pioneering figure in Indian pathology, whose monumental contributions to medical science continue to inspire generations of pathologists and medical professionals across the country.
The event was formally inaugurated on 18th April 2025 by *Dr. M. G. Shivaramu, Principal of AIMS, Dean Health Sciences (Medical), ACU* who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The inaugural session was further enriched by the presence of other dignitaries: *Dr. Aliya Nusrath,* Vice-Principal, *Dr. Abhishek M. G*., Head of the Department of Pathology, *Dr. Vijay Shankar S*., Professor of Pathology and President of the Karnataka Chapter of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists, and *Dr. Amita K*., Professor of Pathology. Each of the dignitaries addressed the gathering, sharing insightful perspectives on the evolving scope of Pathology and its enduring significance in modern medicine. Their motivating words served to encourage students and professionals alike.
The celebrations spanned two days, featuring a blend of cultural expression and academic enthusiasm. On April 17th, the first day of the event, a Rangoli competition was organized within the Department of Pathology. Participants included Phase 2 and Phase 3 MBBS undergraduate students, as well as postgraduate students from the department. The competition witnessed a vibrant display of artistic skills intertwined with medical themes.

• Second Prize: Dr. Ganashree, Dr. Dishant, and Dr. Shivanag (Postgraduate students)
• Special Mention (Third Place): Ananyaraj R., Bhoomika R., and B. R. Lathashree (Undergraduate students)
On the second day, April 18th, the focus shifted to academic engagement through the *‘Pathohunt’ quiz* competition. The event began with a screening round held in the department demonstration room, where seven teams, each comprising two students, competed. Out of these, five teams advanced to the main rounds. The screening round was conducted by Dr. Vijay Shankar S., who also played a key role in organizing the quiz. The main event featured multiple rounds, each facilitated by different faculty members: the ‘Historical Knowledge’ round led by Dr. Rajini, the ‘Visual Round’ by Dr. Nandini, the ‘Buzzer Round’ by Dr. Rakshitha, the ‘Clinical Round’ by Dr. Prakash, and the ‘Rapid Fire Round’ conducted by Dr. Sumaya.
The event concluded with a spirited contest, culminating in the victory of the team comprising Bharath M. and Mayur A. Darshan, who were declared champions of the Pathohunt Quiz 2025.

The two-day celebration of National Pathology Day at AIMS was a resounding success, offering a rich blend of creativity, academic rigor, and respect for the heritage of Indian pathology. The event served not only as a tribute to Dr. V. R. Khanolkar but also as an inspiring platform for students and faculty to engage meaningfully with the subject. It reinforced the importance of Pathology as a foundational pillar in the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.
