World Organ Donation Day -2026

Sri Sri Sri Dr.Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, the Pontiff of the Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Matha & Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University, stated that organ donation represents the highest form of humanity. He questioned the value of our lifetime actions if we cannot give a new lease of life to someone in need after our passing.

The report mentions that following the noble path of icons like Dr. Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar-who served society by donating their eyes-everyone should step forward to support organ donation.

The report details how a single deceased donor can save lives by donating vital organs including the heart, kidneys, liver, pancreas, lungs, and corneas.

Speaking at the event, dignitaries highlighted that donating organs can give a new lease of life to multiple individuals. There is an urgent need to dispel myths surrounding organ donation in society. Families should support the noble wishes of individuals who express their desire to donate organs.

Key Statistics and Facts mentioned:

A single individual’s organ donation can save or improve up to 8 lives.

Over 450 people successfully registered as organ donors during this specific camp.

Thousands of patients remain on waiting lists daily for life-saving organ transplants.

More than 45 patients who underwent organ transplant surgeries specifically at Adichunchanagiri Hospital, along with the family members of organ donors, participated in the program. It was informed that among these, surgeries were successfully conducted through 40 living donors and 5 deceased donors. Health check-ups and necessary medical examinations were conducted for the organ recipients and donors. The medical team provided necessary health advice. Both the donors and organ recipients were honored.

Swamiji emphasized the critical need for raising public awareness to dispel deep-rooted misconceptions and fears surrounding the process of organ harvesting
