Brief Report of the Event |
The Thanksgiving and Felicitation Programme titled “A Legacy of Leadership” was organized on 31 July 2026 at Lecture Hall–1, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, to honour Dr. M. G. Shivaramu, Dean, Faculty of Medical & Allied Health Sciences and Principal, for his remarkable sixteen years of visionary leadership and invaluable contributions to the growth and excellence of the institution. The programme commenced with the arrival of dignitaries and guests, followed by registration. The event was formally initiated with a warm welcome to all the dignitaries, faculty members, students and invited guests by Dr. Tejaswi H. L., followed by the official Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Ajay N. Their welcoming remarks highlighted the significance of the occasion and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone gathered to celebrate the inspiring journey of Dr. M. G. Shivaramu. The programme then began with the invocation, seeking divine blessings, followed by the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by the dignitaries, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment. Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal, provided an introductory presentation on the illustrious 16-year journey of Dr. M. G. Shivaramu highlighting his exceptional leadership, dedication to academic excellence, institutional development and unwavering commitment towards student welfare and quality healthcare education. She shared her experiences of working closely with Dr. M. G. Shivaramu. She appreciated his exemplary leadership, calm decision-making, mentorship and dedication towards nurturing a positive academic environment. She remarked that his guidance had been instrumental in shaping not only the institution but also the professional growth of countless faculty members and students. The tribute session was the highlight of the programme, where distinguished faculty members shared heartfelt memories and inspiring experiences. Sri Umesh B. K. reflected on the remarkable transformation of the institution under Dr. Shivaramu’s leadership and appreciated his humility, commitment and ability to inspire everyone around him. Dr. K. M. Shivakumar spoke about the Principal’s academic vision, meticulous planning and constant encouragement that motivated faculty members to excel in teaching, research and professional development. Dr. Ravi K. S. highlighted Dr. Shivaramu’s fairness, discipline and compassionate approach towards administration. He fondly recalled how the Principal always remained approachable and supportive to both faculty and students. Sri Dharmendra Y. P. conveyed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the administrative staff, acknowledging Dr. Shivaramu’s kindness, encouragement and respect towards every member of the institution. His emotional tribute reflected the affection and admiration shared by the entire support staff. Each tribute was warmly received by the audience and was followed by heartfelt applause. The speakers unanimously described Dr. M. G. Shivaramu as a visionary leader, compassionate administrator, mentor and an inspiration whose legacy would continue to guide future generations. A special video montage titled “16 Years in Pictures” beautifully showcased memorable moments from his remarkable journey, including academic milestones, institutional achievements, student interactions, cultural programmes, conferences and community outreach activities. The presentation evoked nostalgia and emotion among everyone present. The felicitation ceremony followed, during which Dr. M. G. Shivaramu was honoured with a citation, mementos and tokens of appreciation in recognition of his extraordinary service and unwavering dedication to the institution. Dr. Vijay Shankar S. delivered the Citation and Award Address, eloquently summarizing the outstanding achievements, visionary leadership and enduring contributions of Dr. M. G. Shivaramu. His address beautifully reflected the immense respect and gratitude of the entire AIMS family towards their beloved Principal before presenting the citation and memento. In his address, Dr. M. G. Shivaramu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Management, faculty members, staff, students and colleagues for their unwavering support throughout his sixteen-year journey. He emphasized that every milestone achieved by the institution was the result of collective effort, teamwork and dedication. He encouraged the faculty to continue striving for excellence in medical education, strengthen research activities, embrace innovative teaching methodologies, mentor young professionals with compassion and uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. He also motivated students to pursue lifelong learning, remain humble and compassionate, and dedicate themselves to quality patient care and service to society. His inspiring address received a standing ovation from the audience. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Tejaswi H. L., who expressed sincere gratitude to the Management, dignitaries, speakers, organizing committee, faculty members, students and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme. As a mark of respect and remembrance, the celebration concluded with a group photograph of the entire AIMS faculty along with Dr. M. G.
