Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Adichunchanagiri University, organized the Orientation Programme and White Coat Ceremony for the First-Year MBBS Batch 2026–27 on 5 October 2026 at BGS Auditorium. The programme marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of newly admitted medical students, formally welcoming them into the medical profession and introducing them to the institution’s academic environment, professional values, and ethical responsibilities.
The programme commenced with Vande Mataram, Naada Geethe, and an invocation, followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Tejaswi H. L., Vice-Principal, AIMS & AHRC. Dr. Shivakumar K. M., Dean-cum-Principal, AIMS, introduced the distinguished dignitaries and institutional authorities.
Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Adichunchanagiri University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering, inspiring the students to pursue medical education with dedication, discipline, compassion, and a strong sense of professional responsibility.
The gathering was also addressed by Dr. Shivakumar K. M., Dean-cum-Principal, AIMS, and Dr. Ravi K. S., Chief of Hospital, Adichunchanagiri Hospital & Research Centre, who emphasized the importance of academic excellence, ethical medical practice, and patient-centred healthcare.
As part of the academic orientation, Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice-Principal, AIMS, provided an overview of the MBBS curriculum, academic structure, and learning expectations. Dr. Ajay N., Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy, highlighted the significance of the White Coat Ceremony and oath-taking, emphasizing the values of professionalism, integrity, empathy, and commitment to patient welfare.
The White Coat Ceremony, conducted in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and Heads of Departments, symbolized the students’ formal entry into the medical profession. The ceremonial donning of the white coat reinforced the responsibilities, ethical principles, and humanitarian values associated with becoming a healthcare professional.
The programme concluded with the Ashirvacham (divine blessings) of Poojya Sri Sri Satkeerthinatha Swamiji, followed by the Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem.
Approximately 1,000 participants, including 86 newly admitted MBBS students, their parents and well-wishers, institutional dignitaries, faculty members, Heads of Departments, and supporting staff, attended the programme.

The event also strengthened interaction among students, parents, faculty, and institutional leadership, laying a meaningful foundation for the students’ journey towards becoming competent, ethical, and socially responsible medical professionals.
