The Department of Community Medicine, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), organized the Phase II MBBS Orientation Programme on 28 September 2026 at Lecture Hall 1. The programme aimed to familiarize students with the scope and significance of Community Medicine, the academic curriculum, teaching-learning methodologies, departmental guidelines, and professional expectations.

The programme commenced with an engaging ice-breaking session conducted by Dr. Lakshmikanth N., Senior Resident, encouraging interaction and active student participation. Dr. Madhura M. M., Associate Professor, introduced the departmental faculty, fostering familiarity between students and their mentors.

Dr. Varsha G. and Dr. Keerthi, Assistant Professors, provided an overview of the subject’s goals, learning objectives, syllabus, teaching-learning methods, and recommended textbooks. Dr. Raghavendra S. K., Professor and Head, emphasized academic discipline, institutional regulations, and professional responsibilities. Dr. Shashikiran M., Professor, introduced the Department of Community Medicine and highlighted its pivotal role in preventive healthcare, public health, and community-oriented medical practice. Dr. Sujean J. N., Postgraduate Tutor, briefed students on attendance requirements and related academic guidelines.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, with interactive discussions providing opportunities to clarify academic expectations and address queries.

A total of 200 participants, including faculty members, postgraduate tutors, and Phase II MBBS students, attended the programme.

Objectives

  • To introduce students to the scope, significance, and learning objectives of Community Medicine.

  • To familiarize students with the curriculum, teaching-learning strategies, assessment expectations, and recommended academic resources.

  • To orient students regarding departmental activities, attendance requirements, institutional regulations, and professional responsibilities.

Key Outcomes

The programme enabled students to develop a clear understanding of the Community Medicine curriculum and academic expectations. It strengthened student-faculty interaction, promoted active participation, and established a foundation for effective learning and professional development.

Participant Feedback

Students appreciated the structured orientation, comprehensive academic guidance, and interactive sessions. The ice-breaking activity and faculty introductions helped create a welcoming learning environment and encouraged student engagement.
