The CANPATH 2024 – International Conference on Advances in Cancer Diagnosis and Management was successfully organized on 20th and 21st September 2024 by the Department of Pathology, Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore, in association with Karnataka Chapter of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (KCIAPM).
This two-day conference brought together leading experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the country, focused on the latest breakthroughs in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The event served as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, where participants discussed cutting-edge technologies and methodologies that are transforming the way cancer is diagnosed and managed.
The conference featured a series of keynote presentations and interactive panel discussions. Eminent speakers shared their insights on a wide array of topics, ranging from molecular diagnostics to precision medicine, highlighting the importance of early detection and personalized treatment plans in improving patient outcomes.
The conference saw the active participation of the Head of the Department (HOD), faculty members and post graduate students from the Department of Pathology.
Dr. Abhishek M.G., HOD, played a significant role as the chairperson for the talk on “Challenges and Future Insights of the Tumor Microenvironment.” Drawing upon his extensive experience and knowledge in pathology, Dr. Abhishek delivered an insightful presentation, shedding light on the complexities of the tumor microenvironment and its implications for cancer treatment. His talk was well-received and appreciated by attendees for its depth and clarity.
The conference attracted participation from faculty and post-graduate students across the country, who submitted numerous oral papers and posters. These submissions underwent an initial screening process, with only the best selected for presentation during the event.
Faculty members from our institution, including Dr. Amita K, Dr. Rakshitha H.B., and Dr. Apoorva Pandit, along with post-graduate students Dr. Pricilla Christopher, Dr. Cherin Jeslin Laji, Dr Dr Veena Daryamat and Dr Prajna P Shetty .presented their oral papers and posters during the conference.
Notably, Dr. Rakshitha H.B. won the 3rd prize for oral paper presentation, and Dr. Apoorva Pandit was awarded the 3rd prize for poster presentation. These achievements underscore the dedication and academic rigor of our faculty and students.
The conference offered a rich learning experience, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas on cutting-edge advancements in cancer diagnostics and treatment. Our faculty can leverage the insights gained from these two days to elevate the standard of reporting and research at our institute.

The event witnessed significant participation, with numerous oral papers and posters submitted, out of which 18 were shortlisted for final presentations. A total of 7 Faculty members and post-graduate students participated in oral paper and poster presentations from our institution.
In a proud moment for our institution, Dr. Rakshitha H.B. secured the 3rd prize for her outstanding oral paper presentation, while Dr. Apoorva was honored with the 3rd prize for her exemplary poster presentation. These accolades reflect the commitment to excellence and academic strength demonstrated by our faculty and students, bringing further distinction to our institution.
