Guest Lecture on Surgical Interventions in Epilepsy

A guest lecture titled “Surgical Interventions in Epilepsy” was conducted on 15th May 2025 at the BGS Global Broadcasting Centre, AIMS at 2.00 pm. The event was organized by the Departments of General Medicine, General Surgery, and Neurosurgery as an interdepartmental academic initiative, in association with the Department of Neurosurgery, NIMHANS, Bangalore.

The session was attended by over 75+ participants, including Phase 3 Part 2 MBBS students, postgraduate students of General Medicine and General Surgery, and faculty members from both departments.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Malla Bhaskara Rao, Former Professor & HOD, Department of Neurosurgery, NIMHANS. He provided valuable insights into the neurobiology of memory and learning, as well as surgical approaches for managing epilepsy. The talk emphasized the importance of understanding brain function in medical and surgical practice.

The session was attended by over 175+ participants, including Phase 3 Part 2 MBBS students, postgraduate students of General Medicine and General Surgery, and faculty members from both departments.

The session was highly informative and well-received by both students and faculty. It fulfilled its objective of enhancing the participants’ understanding of memory functions and neurological surgical interventions.
