On the occasion of World Asthma Day, a guest lecture was organized on 21st May 2025 by the Departments of General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS). The interdepartmental event was held at the BGS Global Broadcasting Centre, AIMS, in association with the Department of Respiratory Medicine, BMCRI, Bangalore.
The theme for this year’s World Asthma Day was “Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for All.” The objective of the event was to educate students and faculty about asthma, its management, and the importance of ensuring access to proper inhalation therapy.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal, AIMS, Dr. J. Inbanathan, Professor, General Medicine, Dr. Sandeep H. S., Associate Professor of Respiratory Medicine, AIMS and senior faculty of Medicine department; Dr. Rajashekar H.K, Dr. Ramesha S S, and Dr. M.M. Basavaraju
The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohan J, Associate Professor of Respiratory Medicine, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI), about asthma – COPD over Lap and its management. Dr. Sandeep H.S educated the audience about recent advances in management of bronchial asthma.
The programme was attended by over 180 participants, including faculty members, Phase 3 Part 2 MBBS students, and postgraduate students from the Departments of General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine.
The session was informative and interactive, enhancing awareness and understanding of asthma care among the attendees. The programme concluded with positive feedback and reinforced the importance of accessible treatment options in respiratory health.
