The Department of Pediatrics, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), under the auspices of Adichunchanagiri University, successfully observed **World Immunization Day 2025** on 20th November 2025. The event aimed to promote awareness about the significance of immunization in preventing life-threatening diseases and ensuring the well-being of the community.
The programme commenced with an official inauguration marked by the **watering of the Tulsi plant**, symbolizing purity, growth, and the institute’s commitment to nurturing a healthier society. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of **Dr. M. G. Shivaramu**, Principal, AIMS & Dean, Faculty of Medical and Allied Health Sciences; **Dr. Ravi**, Deputy Chief of Hospital; **Dr. Mahendrappa K. B**, Professor & HOD, Department of Pediatrics; faculty members from various departments; Casualty Medical Officers; and postgraduate students. A large number of patients and their attendants also participated, adding significance to the outreach component of the programme.
The session opened with an invocation, followed by a keynote address by **Dr. Ravi**, who emphasized the necessity of timely immunization and highlighted the availability of **daily immunization services at AH&RC**. **Dr. K. B. Mahendrappa** welcomed the gathering and explained the importance and history of immunization with relatable examples. He further emphasized the role of vaccines in preventing and eradicating life-threatening diseases. A **role play by the students** effectively conveyed key messages on vaccine awareness to patients and their families.
**Outcomes of the Programme**
The programme successfully enhanced awareness among faculty, postgraduate students, patients, and their relatives regarding the importance of immunization. The interactive discussions enabled the public to clear their doubts about childhood vaccination schedules, safety, and preventive measures for complications. Overall, the event was highly informative, engaging, and beneficial to the audience.
