Objectives of the Event 

 

  1. 3 days comprehensive workshop for residents and young consultants. 
  1.  Case discussions by experienced Otologists. 
  1. Surgical workshop

Brief Report of the Event (within 200 words) 

It was a live surgical Otology workshop with wide variety of  Complex Ear cases including Revision cases. There was a formal inauguration by Dr Deepak Haldipur former AOI president and Padmashree Dr Mohan Kameshwaran. 

Day 1-  

Live surgeries included facial nerve decompression and grafting for facial nerve injury , cortical mastoidectomy, adhesive otitis media and tympanosclerosis cases. There were short talks on topics like auditory brain stem implants,  Adhesive otitis media and hurdles in stapes surgery 

Day 2- 

Live surgeries included Iatrogenic facial nere palsy with semicircular canal fistula, Bondys procedure and external auditory canal cholesteatoma and attic retraction pocket for atticotomy. Lectures included radiological anatomy of temporal bone, Attic retraction 

Day 3- Live surgeries included intratympanic glomus tumour excision, keraosis obturans  and cholesteatoma. There was session where all the previous year cases follow up were discussed there was a panel discussion on tips and tricks in ototlogy. 

In addition to academic sessions there were stalls displayed for instruments, hearing aids, camera and microscopes and vertigo assessment equipments. 

The sessions included basics and advanced procedures in otology and it was graced by international figures in otology.

Feedback Analysis (Brief) 

Delegates appreciated the integration of surgical, anatomical perspectives of Ear surgeries, lectures and case discussions by experienced Otologists.
