Objectives of the event

1.     To increase the understanding of vitiligo among students.

2.     To create awareness among patients and the public regarding vitiligo with emphasis on busting the myths and reducing stigma, and promote inclusivity.

Brief Report of the Event

World Vitiligo Day was observed in the department of

Dermatology, AIMS BG Nagara. The theme for this year was ‘FROM STIGMA TO STRENGTH’

Quiz competition and poster making competition was held for MBBS students and Interns

A total of 11 students participated in the quiz. The top 3 winners were awarded a cash price.

1st place: Mr Gaurav P (Phase III, Part II)

2nd place: Mr Akhil D (Phase III, Part II)

3rd place: Ms Lipika Jain (Intern)

Winners of poster-making competition were as follows:

1st place: Ms Nandana Narendran (Phase III, Part I)

2nd place: Mr Faiz Sufian (Intern) and Mr Ahmed Adnan (Intern)

 

The event effectively combined academic engagement and public awareness.

Patient education about vitiligo and its myths was provided to OPD patients, and free drugs were distributed to vitiligo patients.

Feedback Analysis (Brief)

 

The event was well received by all the stakeholders (students and patients). It was informative, interactive and well organised. Participants suggested holding similar awareness programs in future.

Students gained a deeper understanding of vitiligo.

We were able to create awareness among the public regarding vitiligo, with emphasis on mitigating the myths and stigma associated with the disease
