• To provide a national platform for academic exchange and continuing medical education in pediatric allergy, asthma and applied immunology.
• To give young postgraduate researchers an opportunity to showcase their work through oral and poster presentations, with awards recognising outstanding research.
• To encourage real-world and practice-oriented research in childhood allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis and preschool wheeze.
• To promote networking and collaboration among faculty, postgraduate students and specialists in pediatric allergy and immunology.

Brief Report of the Event (in about 200 words)
|
Dr. Aditi Mehta and Dr. Shafiya, second-year Postgraduate students of the Department of Paediatrics, AIMS, attended PedAllercon 2026, the 14th National Conference on Pediatric Allergy & Applied Immunology with Environmental Issues, held on 19th–20th September 2026 at J N Tata Auditorium, IISc Bengaluru. Of the 35 abstracts submitted, 10 were selected for oral presentation, and both of their papers were among the selected abstracts.
Dr. Aditi Mehta presented “Beyond the Trial: Real-World Effectiveness of Probiotics in Childhood Atopic Dermatitis – A Prospective Observational Study”, a study of the effectiveness of probiotics in children with atopic dermatitis under routine clinical conditions, using SCORAD assessed at baseline and at 8 weeks.
Dr. Shafiya presented “Bridging the Follow-up Gap in Preschool Wheeze: A Feasibility Study of Structured Telephonic Follow-up in a Rural Tertiary Care Centre”, which examined whether structured telephonic follow-up can help close the follow-up gap in children with preschool wheeze in a rural tertiary care setting.
Both presentations were delivered before a national audience of pediatric allergy specialists, faculty and postgraduate students, and gave the presenters valuable exposure, feedback and networking opportunities. The conference also offered rich academic learning through orations, panel discussions on environmental determinants of allergy, and debates on emerging concepts.

Feedback Analysis (Brief)
|
Both oral presentations were well received by the audience, who appreciated the practical, real-world focus of the research and its relevance to everyday paediatric practice. The presenters benefited from the queries and suggestions of the expert faculty during the sessions.

• Selection of two postgraduate papers from AIMS among the 10 oral presentations chosen from 35 submitted abstracts.
• Enhanced research exposure and presentation experience for the second-year postgraduate students at a national conference.

• Strengthened academic visibility and networking of the Department of Paediatrics, AIMS, under ACU, with the IAP allergy fraternity.
