Objective/s of the Event

To promote awareness regarding Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive health, facilitate early identification of cognitive concerns, and provide an opportunity for students and postgraduate trainees to participate in community-oriented mental health activities

Brief Report of the Event (in about 200 words)

The following activities were conducted

1. Cognitive Screening:

   Cognitive screening was conducted for eligible participants (faculty, staff and supporting staff Aged>55) by postgraduate trainees under appropriate supervision. Relevant demographic and clinical information were collected, and cognitive function was assessed using a standardized cognitive screening tool (MOCA). Participants with concerning screening findings were advised appropriate clinical evaluation and follow-up.

Nearly 25 participants from various department were evaluated

2. Poster Presentation:

A poster presentation on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia awareness was conducted, highlighting the importance of early recognition, risk factors, preventive measures, and the role of cognitive assessment.

3. Seminar:

   An awareness seminar on Alzheimer’s disease was delivered by an intern, covering basic concepts of dementia, warning signs, risk factors, prevention, early identification, and the importance of caregiver support.

Outcome

The programme provided an integrated approach combining cognitive screening, academic presentation, and awareness education. It facilitated active participation of postgraduate trainees and interns while promoting awareness regarding Alzheimer’s disease, early recognition of cognitive difficulties, and the importance of timely evaluation and support.
