Radiology Residents Shine at IRIA Uttarakhand Chapter Academic Meet, Jim Corbett

Three Junior Residents of the Department of Radiodiagnosis, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), B.G. Nagara, attended an academic programme organised by the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA), Uttarakhand Chapter: Dr. Sriloka Ranjani Venkataramanan Iyer, Dr. Shreyas S. Rao and Dr. Nidhi. It was held from 23 to 25 October 2026 at The Banyan Retreat, Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand, with about 100 delegates. The residents presented six scientific papers and posters between them, and two of them won prizes.

Awards

  • First Prize, Paper Presentation: Dr. Sriloka Ranjani Venkataramanan Iyer, for “Radiological Evaluation of the Etiology and Imaging Patterns of Spontaneous Intraparenchymal Haemorrhage”
  • Second Prize, Paper Presentation: Dr. Shreyas S. Rao, for “Role of Computed Tomography Pulmonary Angiography in the Identification and Characterisation of Pulmonary Thromboembolism”

Scientific Presentations

Dr. Sriloka Ranjani Venkataramanan Iyer

  • Paper: Radiological Evaluation of the Etiology and Imaging Patterns of Spontaneous Intraparenchymal Haemorrhage (First Prize)
  • Poster: Systemic Sclerosis: A Radiologic Kaleidoscope of Multiorgan Involvement

Dr. Shreyas S. Rao

  • Paper: Role of Computed Tomography Pulmonary Angiography in the Identification and Characterisation of Pulmonary Thromboembolism (Second Prize)
  • Poster: Decoding Posterior Fossa Tumours: A Pictorial Review of Imaging Features

Dr. Nidhi

  • Paper: Obstructive Jaundice: Comparative Evaluation of USG and MRCP with Intraoperative Findings
  • Poster: MRI Spectrum of Post-traumatic Meniscal Injury and Its Correlation with Arthroscopic Findings

Academic Sessions

The programme included sessions and workshops on:

  • Fetal medicine: fetal imaging, detecting anomalies and prenatal assessment
  • Image-guided biopsy: planning procedures and guiding the needle
  • Neck ultrasonography: systematic scanning and evaluation of the thyroid, cervical lymph nodes and neck lesions
  • Ultrasound techniques: scanning protocols, image optimisation and diagnostic interpretation

Outcomes

The residents strengthened their diagnostic knowledge, practical skills and confidence in ultrasonography and image-guided procedures, all of which apply directly to routine clinical practice. Presenting their research to radiologists from across the country also sharpened their scientific communication.

Conclusion

Winning first and second prizes and presenting six scientific works at an IRIA forum reflects the strength of research and training in the Department of Radiodiagnosis at AIMS. AIMS congratulates Dr. Sriloka Ranjani Venkataramanan Iyer and Dr. Shreyas S. Rao on their awards, and Dr. Nidhi on her presentations.
