Objectives of the Event

Department of Ophthalmology in association with Karnataka Ophthalmic Society conducted a sensitisation program on the occasion An interdisplinary session on Eye Donation Fortnight for the BGSIT Engeeniering students.

Objective of the sensitisation program was to create awareness about the Corneal eye donation and to know in detail about the corneal disease and its presentation, newer initiative methods taken to reduce the disease burden , management of corneal blindness and a united approach in making world free of corneal blindness in the mere future.

Brief Report of the Event (within 200 words)

Department of Ophthalmology in association with  National programme for control of blindness and visual impairment under karnataka ophthalmic society conducted a sensitisation program on the occasion 41^st National eye donation fortnight on august 25 to september 8  for BGSIT Engeeneiring students in LECTURE HALL 1 AIMS.The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr  Shivakumar K M, Principal AIMS, DR Tejaswi H L , Vice Principal, AIMS, Chief invitee DR B N SHOBA graced by presence Dr. Niharika Shetty Krishna,Professor and HOD, Department of Ophthalmology, AIMS, Dr. D N Prakash, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Dr Srinivas, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology.

The programme started with registration and pretest.welcome address was  given by DR  D N Prakash, Professor.the objectives discussed are Common Causes of corneal Blindness by DR Manish.k second year postgraduate .Corneal blindness: Challenges and the contribution of Eye banking. By DR Sringiri Shashank second year postgraduate. Management of corneal blindness from an indian perspective by DR Rakshitha T M Second year postgraduate.

An educative and entertaining role play emphasizing about the disease of  corneal blindness  was shown to the audience by postgraduates and diploma in ophthalmic technology students in bursting out myths and beliefs regarding eye donation and corneal transplantation .vote of thanks and post test was done.

Objective of the sensitisation program was to create awareness about the corneal blindness and to know in detail about the disease corneal blindness and its presentation, newer initiative methods taken to reduce the disease burden and a united approach in making world free of corneal blindness in the mere future.

Feedback Analysis (Brief)

The educational program received highly positive feedback from participants, with attendees appreciating the multidisciplinary approach and well-structured schedule. Most found the sessions to be clinically relevant, especially the talks on importance of corneal blindness and the new outreach program taken for preventing blindness and eye donation.

Speakers were praised for their clarity, expertise, and engaging delivery.

Overall, the session was rated as highly informative, well-coordinated, and academically enriching, with strong interest expressed for similar future events.
