Objectives of the Event

Brief Report of the Event

As part of Oral Hygiene Week – 2026, the Department of Dentistry, in association with the Department of Community Medicine and AIMS NSS Units 1 & 2, organized an Oral Health Awareness and Dental Screening Programme on 01 August 2026 at Government School, Gondenahalli. The programme was conducted in the presence of Dr. Ranjith, Professor & Head, Department of Dentistry, and Dr. Kavitha, Department of Dentistry. From the Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Sujean, Dr. Parashuram V. D., Mr. Yathish B. R., and Mr. Nagaraja (Medico Social Workers) actively participated in the programme. Oral health screening was conducted for school children, followed by demonstrations of proper tooth-brushing techniques and health education on maintaining good oral hygiene, preventing dental caries, and adopting healthy dietary habits. Students were encouraged to brush twice daily and undergo regular dental check-ups. As part of the programme, 80 students received toothbrushes and toothpaste kits to promote healthy oral hygiene practices. The programme successfully enhanced awareness regarding oral health and reinforced the importance of preventive dental care among school children.

Feedback Analysis (Brief)

Students actively participated in the oral health awareness session and demonstrated enthusiasm during the tooth-brushing demonstration. Teachers appreciated the dental screening and oral hygiene education. The distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste kits motivated students to adopt better oral hygiene practices.

Outcome

The programme successfully improved awareness regarding oral hygiene and preventive dental care among 80 school students. Oral health screening facilitated early identification of common dental problems, while the distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste kits encouraged healthy oral hygiene practices. The collaborative efforts of the Departments of Dentistry and Community Medicine strengthened community outreach and school health promotion activities.
