World Girl Child Day Celebrations

The Department of Pediatrics and OBG, in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Committee at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, marked World Girl Child Day on October 11, 2023, at Sri Bhaktanatha Swamy Higher Primary School. The event, led by the Department of Pediatrics, featured distinguished speakers including Dr. K B Mahendrappa, Sri Manjegowda, Dr. Ravindra S Pukhale, and Dr. Manjula. Dr. Mahendrappa emphasized the importance of education and emotional bonds, encouraging girls to aim high. Other speakers addressed menstrual health, women empowerment, and rights of the girl child.

Approximately 400 girl students, along with inter-departmental staff and OBG postgraduates, participated in the event. A written test on health, hygiene, nutrition, and girl child rights demonstrated a commendable level of knowledge among the students. Overall, the event effectively celebrated World Girl Child Day, spreading awareness and empowering girls to pursue their goals while being mindful of their rights.
